ALL ABOUT MEDICAL ANGELS

In this difficult economic environment people are often faced with all types of hard choices. When paying the bills and putting food on the table are the primary concern, people often are faced with the prospect of “doing without.” When that choice involves durable medical equipment such as wheelchairs, crutches and other medical devices the choice can be devastating and severely impact an individual or a family’s quality of life. Thankfully there is an answer right in Teaneck, NJ that is helping avoid having to live without necessary medical equipment.

Jim Ressler, owner of Premier Home Care has opened a The Medical Angels Donation Center in Teaneck, which provides durable medical equipment and supplies to the people who need them most… those who cannot afford them. The idea came to Ressler when he realized the electronic wheelchair his father used until he passed away a few years ago was simply sitting in a garage collecting dust. He was sure there was someone out there that could use it and within a matter of hours he found someone who needed it but could not afford it. He happily gave the person with the electric wheelchair and the idea was born.

“There are 2 sides of the equation which are on the one hand you have millions of people who need equipment and simply cannot afford it”, said Ressler. “On the other hand you have people who have the equipment from when a family member passes or no longer needs it who do not know what to do with it. Many people were like me and simply did not know what to do with it so they do nothing, which is a real shame. I figur3d we could make a real difference with The Medical Angels Donation Center.”

The idea has been extremely well received by state and local agencies, hospitals, home health care agencies, and individuals throughout the state. Donations of top quality equipment are starting to come in on a daily basis, as are the requests for the equipment from individuals. There is absolutely no cost to the recipient of the equipment and the Medical Angels is open to anyone who is in need.
